Accessing Deadwood

The Rapid City - Deadwood - Custer
area gets a lot of tourists and for many good reasons. There is a
lot of natural beauty in this area rarely found elsewhere and, for
history buffs, the area is a treasure trove. The area is mountainous and
these curvy mountain roads can be tricky for RVs, even the class B rigs. (continued in column 2) |
There are two good roads connecting Deadwood to I-90: US-14-Alt from the east — about 11 miles — and US-85 from the north — about 8 miles. If you are eastbound, take exit 17 and head south on US-85. If you are westbound, take exit 30 and head west on US-14-Alt. You can continue on to Custer via US-395. Rapid City to Custer use US-16. All very good roads. |
